Real Cider and Perry

We have a strong commitment towards supporting our local traditional cider and perry makers.

We stock a regular selection of 12 draught traditional ciders and perries from Dorset, Somerset, Hampshire and Herefordshire.

Real cider is a long-established traditional drink which is produced naturally from apples and is neither carbonated or pasteurised. As cider is made from apples, perry is made from perry pears, traditionally perry tends to me sweet or medium sweet.

We also have 2 pint containers/hoppers available so you can take home a selection of traditional cider and perry to enjoy.

We are currently stocking the following real ciders and perries (as well as Westons' Stowford Press as a "fizzy" cider).

Equinox

Percentage: 4.5% | Units: 2.6 per Pint | Producer: Mr Whitehead's Cider Company
Equinox is a light and easy drinking Medium cider, it has both dry and sweet qualities, coupled with a strength that makes it an excellent session cider.

Westons Country Perry

Percentage: 4.5% | Units: 2.6 per Pint | Producer: Westons Cider
Made from perry pears and fully matured in old oak vats to develop its strength and traditional character. Free from all artificial colouring, flavouring and sweetening it retains its natural pale colour.

Westons 1st Quality Cider

Percentage: 5% | Units: 2.8 per Pint | Producer: Westons Cider
This medium still cider has a well balanced fruity flavour and is smooth and mellow with a clean apple finish, leaving the mature taste of bittersweet apples on the palate. Unlike the cloudy scrumpies this is filtered to be clear and bright.

Orchard Pig Medium Cider

Percentage: 6% | Units: 3.4 per Pint | Producer: Orchard Pig
This is still and wonderfully refreshing. It is a soft, medium cider with a fruity, clean flavour and a lingering apple finish. Drink it as an aperitif, with meals and at parties for a real experience of Somerset fine quality cider.

Blakeney Red Perry

Percentage: 6.5% | Units: 3.7 per Pint | Producer: Hecks Farmhouse Cider
A medium single variety perry made with Blakeney Red pears.
Cloudy, light yellow appearance. Dry perry aroma. Great taste and a smooth finish - sweet but not too sweet with a good aftertaste.

Cider by Rosie

Percentage: 6.5% | Units: 3.7 per Pint | Producer: Cider by Rosie
A Dorset cider. A traditional still, medium dry, full juice cider. It is made entirely of true West Country cider apple varieties and blended over the complete harvesting season.

Kingston Black Cider

Percentage: 6.5% | Units: 3.7 per Pint | Producer: Hecks Farmhouse Cider
A medium-dry single variety cider made with Kingston Black Apples.
Hecks' Kingston Black is a smooth, lightly acidic, well balanced cider.

Morgan Sweet Cider

A medium-sweet single variety cider made with Morgan Sweet apples.

Port Wine Of Glastonbury

Percentage: 6.5% | Units: 3.7 per Pint | Producer: Hecks Farmhouse Cider
A hazy pink & orange coloured cider.
Good medium flavour with a bit of sweetness and a drying finish.

Snakecatcher Scrumpy (Medium)

Percentage: 7% | Units: 4 per Pint | Producer: New Forest Cider
Seriously strong, intense in flavour and character, being aged in spirit barrels. The ignorant might call it rough, but the knowledgeable connoisseur would consider it a robust English artisanal country beverage.

Westons Old Rosie Scrumpy

Percentage: 7.3% | Units: 4.1 per Pint | Producer: Westons Cider
This still cider is allowed to settle out naturally after fermentation resulting in a truly old fashioned, full flavoured, appley, cloudy scrumpy, with a well balanced medium dry character.

Premium Perry

Percentage: 7.5% | Units: 4.3 per Pint | Producer: Broadoak Cider
Pale green gold perry - medium with a subtle flavour.
