Morris Dancers: Bourne River Morris
12th August 2010 - 8PM Onwards.Bourne River Morris - a great morris team performing some unique dances with sticks, bells and handkerchiefs, based in Bournemouth, Dorset. Website: http://www.bournerivermorris.org.uk/
Morris Dancers: Frome Valley Morris
29th July 2010 - 8PM Onwards.Frome Valley Morris was formed in 1978 and is based in south Dorset. They are distinguished by their white clothing, black top hats and blue, white and green ribbons.
Frome Valley Morris dance mainly in the Cotswold style of Morris. The earliest records of such dances date back some 500 years, although the true origins are probably much earlier. They also occasionally perform sword dances from the north of England, and Border style dances from the Welsh borders.

21st July 2010 - 8PM Onwards.The Dorset Buttons Ladies Morris Side was formed in 1978 and is based in Wareham in Dorset. They dance in the Northwest tradition and wear the wooden clogs that were everyday footwear at the time the dances were first performed. The team name originates from the hand made buttons that were widely made in Dorset until the invention of the button-making machine in the 1860s. The team's colourful dresses and vibrant dancing have become well known throughout the country.
The Dorset Buttons Mens Rapper Sword Dance team was formed in 1991 and performs dances that originate from the mining villages of Northumberland. Their intricate weaving swords together with their accompanying characters of 'Tommy' and 'Betsy' are a spectacle not to be missed.

Morris Dancers: The Quayside Cloggies
26th June 2010 - 12PM - 3PM.The Quayside Cloggies will be dancing at the Castle Inn on the 26th June, it should be a great night! Based in Poole, Dorset, Quayside Cloggies are a ladies clog-morris dance side who dance in the Northwest Tradition and take their dances mainly from Cheshire and Lancashire. The dances were usually of a regimental nature and were performed at Carnival Processions and Rush Bearing in the Northwest of England.

Pub Quiz
1st March 2010 - 8:30PM.The second year of our weekly Pub Quiz (first night was the 9th November 2009 and continuing until the Spring), our quiz master Mark Coutts is reclaiming his position and it should be a good season of quizzes!
Purbeck Mummers
17th December 2009 - 9.30PM Approx..The December folk club will be finishing with a visit from the Purbeck Mummers who will be performing their play!

27th September 2009 - All Day.This year will be highlighted by our first ever Beer and Cider Festival at The Castle Inn! We will be stocking a large range of local Real Ales and Ciders, as well as a few special selections from microbrewers and regional brewers!

The Wareham Whalers Shanty Crew
25th September 2009 - 7PM to 10PM.The Wareham Whalers joined us on the first night of our Beer and Cider Festival. They perform traditional shanty songs and were appreciated by all at the Festival - A great way to start the weekend!

Hobos Morris and Bourne River Morris visited us and put on a great show for several hours.
Great crowd of people came along for the performance, for many it was their first experience of Morris Dancers!
Bourne River "kindly" left us a stick which was broken over the night which is now on display above the public bar.

Had a brilliant holiday, so happy to have found this lovely place, staff were lovely, made us feel very welcome. We will definitely be back (with dog next time) x :) :)
